Garden plants in the 2022 Autumn/Winter Trend Collection
In a nutshell, the 2022 Autumn/Winter Trend Collection is a new collection of 16 garden plants, houseplants and flowers with a focus on the Traditional Sentiment trend and featuring both familiar and less familiar products that go together beautifully. Thejoyofplants.co.uk and Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk will be presenting the new collection on 1 September 2022.
Modern nostalgia in the garden
Within the Traditional Sentiment trend, the focus is on the trusted and familiar, the things we know in an ever-changing world. Vintage and old elements are combined to create something new. The four garden plants in the 2022 Autumn/Winter Trend Collection all have a nostalgic feel, but without being old-fashioned. They’re widely available throughout the season and lend the perfect finishing touch to this Trend Collection.
Four garden plants
Whether low-growing, tall, standard or flowering, the garden plants in the 2022 autumn/winter collection are sure to impress.
The Camellia is a garden plant that flowers in the colder months. Its white, white/pink or red flowers contrast beautifully with its firm shiny leaves, which remain on the shrub all year round, making this garden plant an attractive permanent feature in any garden or balcony. This slow grower likes a slightly acidic soil and partial shade.
Evergreen and hardy, Pinus is a strong garden plant that can handle the rough along with the smooth. It’s also known as the pine. The blue-green needles grow in bundles and give the plant its unique character. There are also cones at the ends of the branches. Pinus comes in a variety of sizes and types, including a standard variety, making it very popular for both gardens and balconies.
Helleborus, also known as the Christmas rose, blooms in early winter. Expect white, yellow, green, pink or purple flowers and dark green, slightly faded leaves. This plant prefers partial shade and loves chalky soil. Helleborus looks stunning both planted in a bed and in containers on the patio. In the event of frost, the plant appears to throw in the towel, but resurrects as soon as it gets warmer. Good to know: slugs also love this garden plant.
Some plants appear to be blooming even though they have no flowers. Leucothoe is one of them. The oval leaves change colour intensely from green to yellow, pink, red and ultimately, purple in the autumn. Some varieties even have variegated leaves, making Leucothoe the perfect final addition to this autumn/winter collection. Tip: do not place this garden plant in too much shade, as it needs sunlight for the leaves to change colour vibrantly.

Garden plant display tips
Give the garden plants from this Trend Collection the attention they deserve in the shop as well. Group and place them in flowerpots that match the trend, such as made of earthenware, webbing or rattan. This kind of display will give consumers a good sense of the 2022 autumn/winter collection.
