Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk is organizing Ikebana workshops in London

16 January 2020

Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk is organizing Ikebana workshops in London on January 14 and February 8. The first is meant for press and influencers,  the second for consumers. Participants are introduced to this Japanese floral art under the guidance of a Japanese Ikebana master. Our goal? To let our audience interact with flowers in a fresh, different and mindful way.

Ikebana is an age-old form of floral art and has its origins in Japan. It is not only about the result, but also about the philosophy behind the tradition. It emphasizes the process; enjoy the colors, scents, textures and forms of flowers in a mindful way. And on the flow that you come in while arranging. Or as Tomoko Yanagi-Kenny, the Ikebana master says:

“Behind the flower arrangements is a world of emotional expression. With Ikebana you give shape to your ideas and feelings through the vase, flowers and arrangement. What goes on in you and what you make are therefore an extension of each other ”.

Ikebana arrangements are asymmetrically constructed from a bowl or vase. They are living works of art, in which the compositions are built with seasonal flowers, but sometimes also branches. Iron wire is also used to get the whole in shape. The harmony between the bowl, the material and the placement in the space is important.
